Project management professionals develop requirements, budgets, and schedules for their company's projects. These workers coordinate projects from the development all the way through the implementation, while working with clients, vendors, consultants, and computer specialists. Project managers are also involved in projects that upgrade the information security of an organization.

Project management professionals work most of their hours in a regular office setting. The majority of project managers works at least 40 hours each week and may need to work weekends and evenings in order to meet deadlines or solve unexpected problems. The salary of an individual in a project management career varies by specialty and level of responsibility. Most of these jobs start off paying close to $50,000 per year, while some in this field make nearly $150,000 each year.

Required Skills

In order to qualify for a job in project management, a bachelor's degree is usually required. However, many employers often prefer a graduate degree. Project management workers also need to possess a broad range of skills such as technical skills, strong business skills, interpersonal skills, communication skills, and leadership skills. In addition to these, project management professionals should also have team skills in order to work on group projects and other collaborative efforts.

Career Opportunities After receiving the proper training in this field, there are many careers from which to choose. There are lots of project management jobs available in the computer technology field, including computer and information systems management. Another industry that needs skilled workers in project management is design. This field encompasses commercial and industrial designers, fashion designers, floral designers, graphic designers, and interior designers.
